To color a logo or pattern on action figures, there are some factors to be aware of. Ways to Color Pattern/LOGO on Action Figures

 

Pad Printing

Pad Printing is perfect for coloring logo or pattern on flat and small curved surfaces. Since the brush head can be made of soft material, it can be stretched around through extrusion deformation, so as to realize the coloring on small curved surfaces. And the multi-color of the same pattern part can be realized through a multi-color pad printing machine. Pad Printing art work is usual use on vinyl figure and action figure, because their shape are all same for each production.

The advantage is that the pattern color by pad printing for custom figure is not easy to lose color or paint, and the efficiency is very high,can keep all of the position and size are same . However, it is more difficult and cost higher when using it to do transition coloring.

 

Decal

Decal can also color pattern and logo on action figures which have curved and flat surface. The advantage for decal to make patter is it is more flexible, and because it is not a set-color-printing but a finished sticker with formed pattern, it can make transition coloring , and is cheaper to color LOGO for lower quantity production and usually it is use for resin figure produce and prototype making . But it only can operated by manual,so the disadvantage for decal is the position of unstable,and color for different time decal is different, and the efficiency is relatively low.

I may have to mention water transfer printing when talking about decal. Sometimes they are easily assumed to be the same, but actually they are not. In the coloring process, the decal sticker needs to be soaked in water, and then the water is used as a carrier to separate the pattern from the decal paper and then transfer it to the figure, realizing coloring indirectly.

Water Transfer Printing

The water transfer printing uses water pressure to hydrolyze the transfer paper/plastic film with colored patterns, so that the patterns can be directly colored on the figures.
